The river Deben was navigable in the Saxon and Mediaeval period.
At the source of the river near Debenham is the Groaning Stone where
legend suggests the throne of the Celtic and Anglo-Saxon rulers
stood. The transportation of wool to Europe by river in the Middle
Ages was the foundation for the village's prosperity. Many fine
buildings can still be seen that derive from this period.
Debenham is an attractive and interesting place to visit; Carpenters
and joiners have thrived here for centuries, it is this tradition
that is being upheld by our team of craftsmen. We would like to
invite you to visit us at our workshops to see for yourself the
hand crafted quality that we are producing.
We are open Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. but we are happy
to open at other times by arrangement.
